SUMMERDEADEND

Today’s key words: sea, sun, boyfriend, dog, lace!

Just arrived to our holiday spot and decided to have a small adventure. We drove close to the coast, until we reached a dead end, walked carefully through wild bushes and finally climbed on some beautiful grey-white rocks to find our private beach. The water was cool and the wild scenery behind us made tricky games with the sun; didn’t do much sunbathing though, but we totally enjoyed our swim. I had planned a little photoshoot for today and I came prepared!

BUCK-IT

It made its appearance again this year and it was absolutely worn and adored. The bucket bag is a combination of form and function, casual and chic, comfort and elegance and once again this year, it brings a hippie-boho-’70s mood in the contemporary minimal vision.

MINIMALME

DSC_0482_72DSC_0570_72

This year’s trend is one of my favourites of all times. The need of a comfortable and elegant everyday outfit that supports fast routines, brought the fashion industry to chic minimalism.

Of course more factors are involved. Contemporary architecture and interior design and of course technology design in combination with fashion, have created circles and networks of interaction and influence with each other. But who could spend a day on the go in high heels any more? High heels will never die, but the renaissance of the flat shoes, the simple shirts and the small accessories is huge deal.

This topic is a great inspiration for me, and I could spend hours writing…BUT, instead, I’m gonna make a series of topics by introducing the items separately or combined. Each item is gonna have its special place in the comfort and elegance list.

In my first post, and obviously full of excitement (!), i felt the need to express my thoughts especially on fashion photography and blogging. Reality moves actually too fast and we tend to plan almost everything, or just move along. Neither is actually bad, if it serves you right, but I would like to talk about the first scenario.

Being more specific, I am referring to planning photo details. It is all about art and aesthetics actually, of course fashion matters to the fullest, I mean, who doesn’t enjoy the YSL logo on a smooth leather satchel, but what happens when you add small details around it? Two delicate golden rings, a red lipstick and a cup of coffee. Or if you place the bag on a white chair next to a beautiful green plant; with an Helmut Newton black-and-white photo in a black simple frame. Or, on a white sofa, with two grey pillows (and a burgundy one?!)…perhaps with the Helmut Newton photo again. Eventually, the outcome depends on the bag design, on the plant, on the frame…and so on.

Each frame produces different mood and feelings, it talks about different hours of the day, different days of the week, different seasons. And eventually, the same logic fits in street style as well. For me, the importance of this experiment and way of expression lays on producing new art compositions, based on fashion items, not by reposting the beautiful photos I spend most of my time searching, but by making my own signature, by interacting with you and, of course by (sometimes) trying to copy what I admire. As one of my favourite artists wrote:

“Une forme – une forme nouvelle, une forme déjà existante, une forme travaillée- est une chose qui n’est la propriété de personne. Une forme n’est la propriété de personne! Parce qu’il s’agit réellement d’une forme; parce qu’il s’agit d’une création, parce que c’est quelque chose que seul l’art peut produire. Aucun artiste important qui donne à voir ou crée une forme nouvelle n’en réclame la paternité- pour la simple raison que cette forme appartient à tout le monde!”

Thomas Hirschhorn_The quote is from Revue Øscillations, 3 anticipation, so it is in french.

…Which in two words means that the form that we create is for everyone and nobody owns it; because it is not form, it is creation and it is something that only art produces. No artist can claim the ownership, the form belongs to anyone.
